About
The Show
When Bradley mysteriously discovers a new vinyl record, summer changes for his dysfunctional high school classmates. A psychological journey through the songs on the album reveals the unexpected truth about their relationships.
This comical caper features an original musical score and a live pit orchestra. It tells the story of an eclectic group of students and their transformation over the course of one summer together.
The Vinyl Diary is a new musical created, directed, and performed by Eden Prairie High School students for the teen category in the 2007 Minnesota Fringe Festival. The show will be presented by Thought Bubble Productions at the newly renovated Ritz Theater in Northeast Minneapolis from August 2nd through 12th, 2007.
In January of 2007, Tyler Sit approached Todd Hayen in choir and asked if he was interested in collaborating to create an original musical with hopes of being in the MN Fringe Festival. Since Todd had always dreamed of writing and directing a musical, he happily agreed to help.
It began with countless emails back and forth between the two writers. When the concept of the show was decided on, Maggie Pint joined the group as Stage Manager and Technical Director. Soon after, Alex Riordan was asked to assist Todd in writing music for the show. With that, the creative team was finished. As luck would have it, their show (#613) was drawn as one of five for the "Teen" category in the Fringe Festival Public Lottery.
